What I really want for my birthday

Last night over dinner, I said "You know what are small and cute and not yappy but still a perfect size for an apartment? Beagle puppies."

"Nope," said the Lad. "I don't want to live with an animal in my home."

Later on that night I got down on all fours and crawled around being an armadillo for awhile. Then I put on my princess pants and did a dance around the house. I really do not see how a beagle puppy could be any more disruptive than me, and he likes me just fine.

See, they don't stay puppies for very long.
That's the problem.
They end up turning into smelly, drooly, barky beagles after a little while.

that's ok, as soon as it grows up i can give it to michele. i'll just paste some fake pointy ears on it and tell her it's a cat.

no one tell her about this plan, ok?

dude, i only like BABY animals. why do you think i only get kittens and then give my cats to my mom? foolio, even if i fall for the cat thing, there's no way i'd fall for the young thing. i can count age rings on teeth like no one's business.

speaking of kittens, kim just got another one! she sent me pictures of jealousy making. i am almost thinking that maybe i could get another kitten. maybe.

You're welcome to come over and play with our puppy sometime.

If you can convince or subvert Gene, you're even more welcome to bring your Beagle puppy over to play with our puppy anytime.

I've met several non-smelly, non-drooly, non-barky adult Beagles that would take offense to kati's comment, if only they could get their paws to work a mouse. A computer mouse. And of course, if they weren't as dumb as dogs.

also, whatever happened to my roswell?

Both of these things you mention have been sitting on my shelf waiting for my attention. Waiting very, very patiently.

I took both of these off my shelf this weekend, dusted them off, and put a little effort in.

For game night, this means that I found a website meant to enable groups to agree on a date for an event and I used the website to send out an invite. I then promptly wrote a long aggravated email to the company's founders chastising them for making me think that their train wreck of a product would have been helpful.

For Roswell, this means that I picked up Season 3 and loaded it into my DVD player to find that my DVD player doesn't understand VCDs. Then I disconnected my monitor and my speakers from my desktop computer and moved them onto the coffee table in the living room with my laptop. Then I went through each of the twenty or so discs and one by one loaded them into my laptop, determined if I'd already seen the episode, and watched the episode if it was new to me. This meant that half the time I was wondering "now how did this person die" and "how did he find out they were aliens" and "what the fuck" because I don't remember the content of episodes I watched two years ago. Also, the last several episodes were cut off about 45 seconds early, meaning that I had to catch the recap at the beginning of the next episode. And one of the disks wouldn't play at all.

I can now safely put those things behind me. Except for game night, which I will organize differently next time.

huh, i didn't have any of those problems with the vcd's. though i did just buy season 3 of roswell on real dvds at the tower sale. exciting!

and good job complaining on that invite thing. it was sort of crappy. but i'm still excited to play mini mao.
