Shop Talk

I submitted a short story for publication today. I have never submitted my fiction before. It took me about half an hour to write, and while I know I ought to sit on stuff for a week or more and then revise, I didn't think my sudden burst of confidence would hold out that long.

This wasn't my best work by any means. That's why I was able to submit it. A rejection won't be as awful as if they were rejecting something I was super attached to. I trust I'll get over that problem as I get used to doing this.

It was about robots.

I submitted a short story today.

This is not my robot.

Congrats on the recklessness. Do we get to see the story?

yey! good job with the submitting.

i submitted for a scholarship today. but that is not quite the same level of excitement. nor does it induce panic in my writing ability.

Scholarships are exciting. Would this be for your one-class fall semester or what?

yeah, it's for the fall. i think. who knows, really. what i know is that it was due on the 1st and i churned out an essay in about 30 minutes while at sailor-land scanning some e-reserves.

and i'm attempting (though our trip might defeat it) to submit an essay i wrote last fall for a $1,000 award.
