Pajama drama

Every now and then my wardrobe starts to lag behind itself. I look at the sea of clothes in my closet and realize, for example, that all my underwear is three years old or more. That my jeans are going to rip if I think about them too hard. That no matter how many times you try it, a brown belt cannot be made to substitute for a black belt.

I have addressed most of these issues over the last few days, but I still have a problem with sleepwear. I have an over-stuffed drawer full of pajamas, but all my warm stuff is three sizes too big. I've been looking for new flannel PJs but nothing looks right.

Is it not possible to find flannel pajamas that are cute, fit right, have a pattern that doesn't make you sick to look at, and cost under $50? All I want is something warm that doesn't make me look like a nauseous whale when I wear it. Why is this so hard?

Suggestions are welcome. They are solicited. Bring on the suggestions.

Last night I dreamed you were getting married, and you bought all your bridesmaids these shiny strappy sandals the same color as the dress you wore for Marina's wedding. Your mom was going to buy you and your husband "a house on the lake" (by which she meant Lake Merritt).

Man, not even you could care about this dream. It was pretty boring. Then I got lost walking around Oakland and you wouldn't pick up your cellphone.

i don't want to live in oakland!

You'll take your house on the lake and like it!

Seriously though, where can I get PJs? Aren't you PJ Queen?

i just buy them where i buy everything else. so mervyns, target, sam's club, macy's. sometimes at the cat's pajamas sales. i have a pair of excellent pajama pants i bought from alloy.com. but mostly i just buy pajama pants and then i use my most comfy t-shirts. i don't really have any matching top/bottom jammies. except for my sushi ones. but i don't wear those because i have issues with sleeping in buttoned shirts.

you don't even wear pajamas to sleep in though, so why is this such an imperative? if it's just for sitting around the house in, why can't you just wear super comfy enormous ones that you have already?

Well, two reasons. One, I like to be cute. Not just for Gene, but because then I have an excuse to stare at myself in the big mirror for hours, which, as you know, is an important hobby of mine. Two, I only wear my flannel PJs when I get home from a cold motorcycle ride, and I feel like closer-fitting ones would be warmer. A smaller cocoon of body heat.

Your suggestions are good ones. I've been looking at V Secret, and all these weird pajama-only sites on the web. There are so many PJ sites. It's weird.

pajamas are better to try on than buying online, i think. i recommend mervyns. and, if you don't have moral issues, walmart. also good is sam's club or costco for cheap and a small but good selection.

I do have a small beef with walmart. The other ones sound good though.

i feel slightly dirty being inside walmart, but they just have so much marvelously cheap shit. if we had fred meyer's down here i would go there because they are pretty much the same, but we don't have FM.
