Represent, represent-sent.
Sushi night rocked the house. Every time I get to hang out with you guys I am so happy.
Awww. Enough gooeyness. Get a chatroom.
So...does anyone know what the draft age is set at now? (...She asks casually. Pay no attention to the war behind the curtain.) Do you think we need to start setting up some Canadian pipelines for you gentleman or what?

At first I wasn't afraid. After all, I've got MORE than enough evidence to argue myself into the conscientious objector category. But then I read about HR 3598 (Universal Military Training and Service Act of 2001). Fucking thing.
Go here
http://thomas.loc.gov/home/c107query.html
And search for "HR 3598"
Here's an excerpt if you don't want to bother checking out the full text:
*Any person who claims, because of religious training and belief (as defined in section 6(j) of the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C. 456(j))), exemption from combatant training included as part of the program of basic military training and education and whose claim is sustained by the local board shall, when inducted, participate in basic military training and education that does not include any combatant training component. The person may be transferred to a national service program, as provided in section 4(d).
Basically, even if you're an objector, you go to basic training, where you learn how to kill people (even though you're morally against doing so). After basic training, you get shunted into a department like the FBI, even if you're morally against such goings-on.
It's too bad that I might have to cut and run to Canada. I so love the U.S. No....wait...I don't. Nevermind, then.

By the way....even though the Bill says that training "does not include any combatant training component," I think we all know that's bullshit. Would they really set up a separate training program JUST for objectors? The military higher-ups would call it "The Chicken Shit Program," and have all the normal recruits beat ChickenShits (as they'd be officially called) until they joined combatant training.

well, if we start to feel a draft, I think we should move to the canary islands, as a group. i have a longterm fascination with those islands dating from last night, when i learned that they spawned the only language every to consist solely of whistling.
also, "canary" actually comes from "canis," rather than from the birds, and i like dogs.

I've been looking into fleeing south. I'm thinking Caribbean, preferably something small and politically inept. Ineptitude breeds indifference, and I could enjoy being a cabana boy...

and i think we could all enjoy you being a cabana boy too.

I've heard war isn't that bad. Apparently it's a lot like chess.
